Realtime Venue Previz with Unreal and TouchDesigner

This course will focus on creating dynamic lighting and environment previz using a combination of Unreal Engine and TouchDesigner, as well as importing a 3D model into Unreal, configuring virtual DMX instruments, and controlling them in real time from TouchDesigner. Students will leave with an understanding of how Unreal Engine works with DMX features, how to control virtual instruments, and how to plan addressing and patching before getting to the venue.

Requirements:
  • Intermediate knowledge of TouchDesigner and Unreal Engine.
  • A laptop or desktop computer capable of running TouchDesigner and Unreal Engine.
  • TouchDesigner 099 (any 2021 build) and Unreal Engine 4.26 installed.
  • A Derivative account to license TouchDesigner (the free, non-commercial license will work for this workshop).
  • An external mouse is highly recommended.
